High quality motion picture cameras from Sony and others are a fraction of their prices a decade or so ago. Also, artificial intelligence tools are making it far cheaper and easier to create, enhance and edit film, TV and video content. Distribution is still dominated by the major studios, at least for theatrical release, though YouTube and other online platforms offer solutions. While there are examples of low-budget marketing success, reaching wide audiences continues to require big investments. In this environment, how does a startup studio create content and reach a wide audience? These and related questions will be tackled by James Orfanos co-founder of Sleuth Productions.
Sleuth Productions is a film and TV studio whose credits include A Good Cop, Broken Pieces and A Time Machine. Based in New York, Sleuth develops, produces, and distributes scripted stories, from script to screen. It also designs marketing campaigns to reach audiences across online and other platforms. James Orfanos, co-founder and a producer at Sleuth, is co-founder of North Star Intelligence. He earned an accounting degree from Baruch College, CUNY.
